Akne och stress – en osynlig trigger för finnar i pannan

Acne and stress – an invisible trigger for forehead pimples

Stress is a common but often overlooked cause of acne, especially on the forehead. When the body experiences stress, the production of cortisol increases – a hormone that directly affects the skin’s sebum production. The result? More oil in the skin, a greater risk of clogged pores and therefore more acne.

But it doesn't stop there. When you're stressed, your body's nervous system is activated, and your skin is affected by neuropeptides and cytokines – signaling substances that can increase inflammation in your skin, making it more sensitive and reactive. This can worsen existing acne and lead to new breakouts, especially in areas where your skin is already active, like the T-zone and forehead.

Stress can also disrupt the skin's microflora – the balance between good and less desirable bacteria and fungi. This imbalance can contribute to conditions like fungal acne or increased irritation.

What can you do?

Reducing stress isn't always easy, but small changes in your daily routine can make a big difference – for both your skin and your health. Try to:

  • Prioritize sleep and recovery

  • Take daily breaks in nature or outdoors

  • Use breathing techniques, meditation, or stretching

  • Avoid further stressing the skin with strong products

Care for your skin gently with products that strengthen the skin barrier and reduce inflammation:

A stressed body is often reflected in the skin – but with the right skin care, recovery and a calmer pace, the skin can regain its balance.
