Pimples on the forehead – and how to get rid of them – a complete guide

Pimples and bumps on the forehead can be both stubborn and frustrating – and often a sign that something in the body is out of balance. In this guide from Dalarnas EKO , we delve into the most common causes of forehead pimples, how stress, hormones, diet and skincare play a role, and what you can do about it. We also offer concrete tips for both preventive measures and an effective, natural skincare routine.

Why do you get pimples on your forehead?

Pimples on the forehead can be caused by several different factors, including:

  • Overproduction of sebum

  • Clogged pores from makeup, sunscreen or air pollution

  • Stress and hormonal imbalance

  • Inadequate cleansing of the skin near the hairline

  • Imbalance in digestion, liver or kidneys (according to facial reflexology)

Facial reflexology: What does the placement on the forehead say?

  • At the temples : Can be connected to the bladder – drink more water, support the lymph.

  • Between the eyebrows : Connection to the liver – reduce intake of alcohol, fast food and fatty foods.

  • Middle of the forehead : Digestive system – eat more fiber and avoid sugar and fast food.

Difference between pimples, nodules and milia

  • Pimples form when a clogged pore becomes inflamed and can have a white or red top.

  • Milia are small white bumps filled with keratin – they have no outlet and cannot be squeezed out.

  • Pimples (e.g. "fungal acne") are sometimes caused by fungi in the skin, often in combination with moisture, heat or an imbalance in the microbiome.

How stress affects forehead pimples

When you are stressed, cortisol levels increase, which stimulates sebum production. At the same time, the nervous system releases neurotransmitters that affect the immune system and drive inflammation in the skin. This can lead to:

  • More clogged pores

  • Worsened acne and sensitivity

  • Imbalance in the skin's microflora (bacteria/fungi)

Reducing stress through rest, sleep, nature, breathing exercises, and mindfulness can do wonders – not only for your mind, but also for your skin.

How to get rid of forehead pimples – step by step

Daily skin care routine:

1. Cleansing with Deep Nourishing Cleansing Oil
Massage the oil into your face with a little water until it becomes milky. Use a damp cleansing sponge to wipe away. Also cleanse up along the hairline to avoid clogging there.

2. Hydrate with Hyaluronic Moisture Mist+
Spray over face immediately after cleansing to soothe skin and balance pH.

3. Serum: Hyaluronic Moisture Serum+
Apply to lightly moistened skin to plump, strengthen the skin barrier and reduce inflammation.

4. Exfoliation and clay mask 1–2 times/week
Use a mild exfoliating acid or clay to dissolve clogged pores. Don't let the clay mask dry completely – moisturize with toner in between. We recommend a Hibiscus & White Clay Face Mask

5. Avoid clogging products
Replace greasy creams, silicone-based makeup products and hair products that can settle at the hairline.

Additional tips:

  • Wash pillowcases and hats regularly

  • Wash makeup brushes often – preferably every week

  • Always have an extra cleansing pad to sweep along the hairline

  • Use facial massage or rollers to support the lymphatic system

When should you seek help?

If your pimples do not improve despite self-care, or if you suspect that it is due to hormonal acne or fungus, we recommend that you contact a healthcare center or skin therapist for further investigation.
