But what is glycerin really – and why is it so valuable?

What is glycerin?

Glycerin (also known as glycerol) is a clear, sweet liquid that is naturally found in the skin and acts as part of our skin’s own moisture barrier . It is a humectant – an ingredient that binds moisture from the environment and draws it into the skin.

The result?
Skin (or scalp!) that feels softer, more hydrated and less tight. Glycerin also strengthens the skin barrier, which helps protect against external stresses like cold, wind and dry air – something we have plenty of here in Dalarna.

How is glycerin produced?

Glycerin is actually a natural byproduct of making authentic artisanal soap through a process called saponification . When vegetable oils react with a base, both soap and glycerin are formed – and in our soaps, the glycerin stays where it does the most good: in the product!

All the glycerin we use comes from vegetable sources – because it's kinder to both you and nature.

Who is glycerin suitable for?

💧 All skin types – because glycerin is already naturally present in the skin, it is also suitable for sensitive skin.

💧 Dry or mature skin – glycerin binds moisture and helps reduce dryness lines and give more radiance.
